The day cycle is a period of 18 hours in game (or 18 minutes real time; 1 in-game hour is 1 minute) from 6:00AM to 12:00AM (Midnight).  Upon reaching midnight, the player character becomes tired and in need of sleep.  It is possible to stay awake later or go to sleep earlier than midnight.  The game saves only after each day and so any progress made throughout the day is lost if the player does not sleep.
