The Garden Pot is a crafted item that allows crops from any season, except Ancient Fruit, to be grown indoors, or crops from the current season to be grown outdoors. Cactus Seeds can only be grown in a Garden Pot placed indoors. Sprinklers do not water Garden Pots. Fertilizer of all types may be used in the Garden Pots.

Indoors

Garden Pots can be placed and produce crops in any indoor space, meaning any space not affected by weather. This includes all farm buildings, the Cave, the Tunnel, the Sewers, the Mutant Bug Lair, the Witch's Swamp, the entrances to the Mines and Skull Cavern, villagers' homes, and other buildings around Pelican Town. Pots placed indoors can grow any crop except Ancient Fruit.

Outdoors

Garden Pots can be placed in any outdoor space, however they will not accept seeds in areas outside the farm. Attempting to plant a seed outside the farm will result in the seed being destroyed, and the message "Must be planted on farm" will display. On the farm, Garden Pots are best placed on non-tillable ground, such as grassy areas or at the base of cliffs. Pots placed outside can only grow in-season crops.

Ancient Fruit

Ancient Fruit cannot be grown in Garden Pots. Attempting to place an Ancient Seed in a Garden Pot will display the message "Her roots grow very deep... She wouldn't be happy in there."
