When creating a new character players can select a number of different maps for their farm.
Each of these maps offer different benefits, and favor specific skills.
The player's farm house will appear the same from the outside on all maps, but begins with a uniquely styled interior after the maps theme. These house interiors offer different furniture pieces, wallpaper and flooring for each map.
Each map will change how the farm appears on the game map slightly. Most simply change how the farm area appears, but some change areas outside the farm on the map - the Forest farm extends the forest to the west toward the farm and the Riverland map connects to a river which flows south of the desert. These changes are only reflected on the world map - no changes are made to the actual game world outside the players farm based on map selection.
After selecting a map it cannot be changed, characters are permanently tied to their map type once created. Space wise each map takes up the same area, but there are different amounts of usable/farmable/buildable land on each.
Map Types
Map | Name | Description | Associated Skills |
---|---|---|---|
Standard Farm |
The original farm map, designed to maximize open space for crops and animals. | Farming | |
Forest Farm |
The forest encroaches on the land, limiting farming space. However, there are renewable stumps on the west edge of the map, and seasonal forage items spawn there as well (including Secret Woods-specific items). There is a type of "weed" which spawns on this farm, which looks unique and will always drop Mixed Seeds when cut. | Foraging | |
Hill-top Farm |
Lots of cliffs and there is a special mining area in the southwest where ore will spawn, as well as unique geode-bearing stones. | Mining | |
Riverland Farm |
Lots of water on this map... limiting space for crops and animals. Looks nice and fishing is actually viable on this farm... In fact, players can catch the same fish that are available in town. | Fishing | |
Wilderness Farm |
A little more interesting than the basic farm with a large lake in the southwest corner, and a cliff along the east and south. Monsters will come out at night. Wilderness Golems are unique to this map. Their stats scale with player combat level. | Combat |
