The Tea Sapling is a seed that takes 20 days to grow into a Tea Bush. A Tea Bush produces one Tea Leaves item each day of the final week (days 22-28) of spring, summer, and fall (and winter if indoors).
Tea Saplings are planted like Trees by placing them onto untilled soil or into Garden Pots. They do not need to be watered in order to grow. Tea Saplings will not die and will even grow if planted outside in winter.
A Tea Sapling can be purchased from the Traveling Cart, though not often. Up to 10 Tea Saplings may be purchased from Caroline's shop at the Desert Festival for 10 Calico Eggs. Otherwise, it must be crafted. The crafting recipe is received via mail the day after Caroline's 2-Heart event.

Notes
- Crafting and selling a Tea Sapling is always more profitable than selling its ingredients. The exact profit depends on the source of the Wild Seeds but is typically between 75g and 200g. Using less profitable forage is more profitable for making Tea Saplings.
- The Wild Seeds used for crafting do not have to be from the same season.
- It is possible to use tea bushes as permanent fences, to help contain farm animals within a barnyard.
History
- 1.4: Introduced.
- 1.5: Added to the rotating stock at the Stardew Valley Fair.
- 1.5.4: Is no longer in the rotating stock at the Stardew Valley Fair.
- 1.5.6: Fixed bug where Tea Saplings could not be harvested from Garden Pots on Ginger Island.
- 1.6: Reduced sell price from 500g to 250g. Chopping down a tea bush now gives back a tea sapling. Can now be purchased from Caroline at the Desert Festival.
